Hollywoods latest proposal to remake a cult Asian horror film could see Takashi Miikes infamous Audition reimagined for US audiences, reports Deadline.

Producers of the new project say they will base their film on the 1997 source novel by Japanese author Ryu Murakami, which was translated into English in 2009, rather than Miikes adaptation. Both versions tell the tale of a middle-aged man who enters a world of pain after mounting a series of auditions for a new (much younger) partner.
