Tinder by Sally Gardner is a great book, full of dark magic, mystery and terrifying monsters.
The main character, Otto Hundebiss, defies creepy Death and goes on a Journey to find his one true love, a beautiful woman called Safire. It’s based on Hans Christian Anderson’s The Tinderbox but is written in a spookier version packed with evil queens and dark forests which set the mood on edge.
