A Song For Ella Grey, with all its lyrical writing, is a romance wrapped in a mystery. A modern interpretation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, it’s as thought-provoking as it is beautiful.
The story is set in Newcastle, told from the point of view of Claire, the title character’s best friend. Ella Grey is held back from going away with her friends at Easter by her parents, but falls in love with Orpheus, a travelling musician from nowhere in particular, through Claire’s phone when he plays music on Bamburgh beach.
