Nikki Haverstock, author of the Target Practice Mysteries is one part Ree Drummond, one part Katniss, and one part Heidi Klum. Target Practice Mysteries is a cozy mystery series set at a competitive shooting training center in rural Wyoming. The series follows 30-year-old Di as she rebuilds her life after a divorce. With her roommate, Mary, and a Great Dane, Moo, they solve murders at and away from the training center.

Here are four things to help you get to know author Nikki Haverstock better.

She's an Olympic Style archer.

I've been shooting and coaching for over 15 years. I coached at two southern California colleges, UCLA and Biola University, for over a decade. Archery is more than just a sport; it's a community that I love. Many of my closest friends I have met through the sport.

I've done a variety of different things over the years. When I was really into coaching and going to grad school in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports psychology, I cut back on competing. Then I was focused on the TV show for a few years. Recently, I have been able to concentrate on competing again.

She's a game show host.

A few years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to host and executive produce a reality show for competitive archers, Nock Out. It was filmed at a beautiful dude ranch in Arkansas. It only lasted one season but it was one of the greatest adventures of my life. I was incredibly lucky with work with an amazing crew and that cast was outstanding. They were not only great archers but wonderful people.

She's like Ree Drummond, but with more animals.

Four years ago we left Southern California and moved to a cattle ranch high in the Rocky Mountains, and we've never been happier. I adore all the open land and the rugged terrain that surrounds us. There's wildlife everywhere and the open space provides lots of room for us to enjoy our hobbies like shooting archery.

We have three dogs that keep me company since I work from home when I'm not needed for ranch work. I spend a good portion of the day letting the dogs in and out of the house. They definitely help me to get up and get moving.

She loves Sister Wives like Jennifer Weiner loves The Bachelor.

I have always been nosey, and I think that's why I love reality television. After working on a reality show, and seeing what goes on behind the scenes, I'm even more addicted. I like to try and guess what was really happening and what we aren't seeing. I started doing video recaps as a hosting exercise, but then I connected with other fans and found I enjoyed sharing my opinions and talking with others.

I convinced my husband to join me in the videos last year because he has funny insights though normally he sits there and looks bored. Sister Wives became the show we are best known for -- I have no idea why! It's a show I love to hate or hate to love, or something.
