Amazon has turned the tables on Hachette in their battle over ebook sales, with the online retailer saying it is happy to continue taking a 30% cut so long as the French publishing giant gives more to authors and charges readers less.
Multiple reports have suggested Amazon was seeking a 50% share of ebook sales, but the company claimed last night that the row with Hachette, which has seen Amazon accused of thuggish behaviour and extortion, was all about growing sales of ebooks by lowering their cover price.
