'The book is fairly predictable, but something happens at the end which will surprise you'
This is a fantasy story that reminds me of some of Roald Dahl's writing. Mr and Mrs Brinkoff want their only son, Osbert, to be a genius. So they are thrilled when he gains a place at the Institute, which accepts only the cleverest children in the city.
Osbert's father had failed the entrance exam, so they are thrilled when he passes. He starts at the same time as Isabella, who becomes his friend and ally.
Their teacher, Mr Lomm, has a reputation for being very strict, but all is not as it seems in Mr Lomm's classroom. When he is dismissed from the school Osbert is determined to seek revenge, which he does in a very dramatic way.
This book is great fun to read; all the characters are unique and you find yourself willing Osbert to succeed in his mission. Because it is a fantasy, you won't feel guilty about liking a character who does terrible things.
The book is fairly predictable, but something happens at the end which will surprise you. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an amusing yet exciting story.
