The late Nora Ephron famously said, "Marriages come and go, but divorce is forever." That opinion is shared by her sister, writer Delia Ephron, who also learned firsthand how much a divorce can benefit one's life.
"You have to divorce someone if they're crushing your dreams. That is just a given," Ephron said during an interview with HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani.
Ephron is now married to her second husband, screenwriter Jerome Kass. But her first experience with marriage was not so successful, she explained during a conversation about her latest book, "Sister Mother Husband Dog: Etc."
Her first husband was a professor from Brown University, and after their wedding, the couple moved to Rhode Island, where Ephron said she worked as a "girl Friday" before she got the courage to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
"My first husband didn't want me to be a writer," Ephron told HuffPost Live. "He said, 'I don't want you to be a writer.' And I said, 'Why?' And he said, 'I don't want you to be famous. Suppose you become famous.' So I said, 'I promise I wont be famous.'"
