A person’s memoir will undoubtedly uncover many and various events from the past, some good and some not so good. You may feel embarrassment or even shame about some of the people and actions in your history, but that’s no reason to erase them, and most likely your descendants will want to know the truth. Just be reassured that balance in writing makes for better reading, so it’s better to present the facts as they are and try to be as neutral as possible. Don’t erase the past.
