John Crace's satirical Digested read columns have become a Guardian institution, reducing the most newsworthy books of the year to an essential 600 words.

Here, he takes on Malcolm Gladwell's David and Goliath, which takes a revisionist look at conditions traditionally seen to be disadvantages and asks whether dyslexia, physical disabilities or traumatic childhoods can in fact turn out to be beneficial.

Gladwell's previous books, such as The Tipping Point and Blink! established a pop science genre alll of its own, and Guardian columnist and self-help analyst Oliver Burkeman joins John to discuss whether it is past its sell-by date or is still a valuable literary commodity.
