Piers Morgan is writing a book that he says will give a "warts and all" account of life at CNN.
The book is tentatively titled "Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God, and George Clooney," and is slated for release in October. The deal was announced by his publisher Gallery, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, on Wednesday.
"There are few jobs more varied, dramatic, or exciting than anchoring a nightly cable news show, so I decided to record it, warts and all, in real time," Morgan said in a statement released by Gallery. "Readers will go on the same journey I did – a pulsating, entertaining, terrifying, emotional and occasionally disastrous roller-coaster. This is 'The Newsroom' on steroids."
The book, according to the statement, will be written in a diary-style format as huge news events unfolded. Morgan has been at CNN since 2011, when he replaced Larry King.
Between the book and hosting "Piers Morgan Live," the CNN host has a lot on his plate. Earlier this month, he signed on to executive produce "Fleet Street," a drama about British tabloids in the 1970s, for Starz.
