The Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF), a San Antonio–based nonprofit that helps combat veterans transition to civilian life, has devoted a page on its website to San Antonio author Stephen James Poppoon and his novel, Hail to the Chiefs. Poppoon is donating all the book royalties from the sales of Hail to the Chiefs to MWSF to help support the organization’s programs and services to our returning heroes.

“I have great admiration for our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Poppoon, “and I want to offer my thanks for their service and sacrifice by contributing to this outstanding organization in my hometown.”

Hail to the Chiefs is a new novel based on Poppoon’s experiences as a soccer player from a winning high school team who enrolls at a college with an unproven soccer program. The novel follows a group of teammates who want to change soccer on campus—and end up changing themselves. Their experiences on the field—and off—forever transform them and the way they see the world. Readers are invited to read the first chapter at http://stevepoppoonauthor.com.

“The novel is about young people dealing with daily challenges common to their age group and the book really speaks to young adults—especially those interested in sports … particularly soccer,” said Poppoon. “And it is a nostalgic trip back in time for us baby boomers.”

Hail to the Chiefs is available to purchase on all major e-retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ebookstore, iUniverse and on its own hub http://stevepoppoonauthor.com.
